1.28.14

Drove out to Ocean Shores, WA on Sunday for a couple days, winter on the coast is nice if your not going for the crowds or the sunshine. I don't know how little places like Sharky's stay open all year, this town was pretty quiet. I sat in the car and drew this through a light morning rain.

last week...

we lost our old buddy Snoopy to whatever cat ailment makes a guycat stop eating..and I just remembered that I drew him once. I took solace in drawing this past week with a model in a large group and on my own in urban settings with smaller groups.

I had to drop the car off for an oil change on Thursday, and I found myself at Cherry St Coffee looking at old and new buildings

on Friday I met some Urban Sketchers at St. Marks on capitol hill, I always thought that the round thing was stained glass but it's really mirrors and glass..my hand hurt later from drawing the lines...

MOHAI

This months Urban Sketcher meet was at MOHAI _ Museum of History and Industry, so many places to sketch in this museum but I really dig this big scaffolding like structure with all the local signage. It was a bit of a challenge to get all the information I wanted because each section is linked to a hand crank below that museum goers can turn to activate a scenes light or moving parts.

01.10.14

A grey morning at The Seattle Public Library. If you've ever visited this library, you know that it is a full city block of oddly angled windows and planes. I chose a small view from the 10th floor looking east over 5th Ave. for this small sketch.

This is the floor I visit the most when I go to the library because it has the new books, the mystery section and DVD's! There's some nice color in this part of the building.

A few of us went to Pike Brewing Company for lunch after the library sketch, I think we all squeezed a few more lines in.
